No Installation Costs
The Protect America home security system is a do-it-yourself (DIY) system, meaning that you install and set up the equipment yourself. DIY saves a ton of money for customers. Self-installation eliminates the extra cost and time that comes with having a professional come to your home to install it. Plus, there are no activation fees, either.
Monitoring Packages and Costs
When purchasing a home security system, there are two initial upfront costs: monitoring and equipment. Protect America is unique in that in all of their monitoring plans include the same basic services.
Protect America offers three primary security packages: Copper, Silver and Platinum. All three provide basic 24/7 professional monitoring. Smoke and fire protection, however, costs extra.
Protect America has a standard, 36-month contract. Monthly monitoring fees are determined by how your security system will connect to Protect America’s central monitoring station: cell, landline, or broadband.
Costs per month range from $19.99-$42.99 for landline monitoring and $41.99-$54.99 for cellular and broadband connections. Additional features like home automation, and remote access via a mobile app are only offered with cellular and broadband.

The rates mentioned above are Protect America's standard rates if you bought your system from a Protect America sales rep by calling their sales line or requesting an online quote. Recently, however, Protect America added a new buying option, which is to build your own system and shop online.
Shopping online has its perks. For instance, online rates are lower than their standard rates.
Standard Cellular Monitoring Rates:

Protect America also gives their online customers free shipping plus the option to further lower their monthly rate by paying a higher upfront fee. Although the basic equipment package is free, you can choose to pay a fraction of the equipment fee or even in full to receive a lower monthly rate. For reference, if you pay over $600 up-front for the Platinum plan, Protect America will cut down your monthly rate to $24.99, a $20 monthly saving.
The catch with buying online is that you have limited options. For one, Protect America only offers cellular plans online. Also, the equipment selection for online customers is much narrower.
