A Brief History Of LifeShield
LifeShield wasn't always an ADT sister company. It was founded as a private company in 2004 after Louis Stilp, its founder, realized the lack of innovation in the alarm industry. That's when he went on to establish InGrid.
InGrid grew considerably, which caught the attention of investors. In 2010, Mike Hagan of Hawk Capital Partners LP acquired InGrid and renamed it to LifeShield. The acquisitions didn't end there. In 2013, LifeShield was purchased by DIRECTV in order to be added to DIRECTV's cable offering. LifeShield also became a part of AT&T when the telecom company purchased DIRECTV in 2015. After that, Hagan repurchased LifeShield from AT&T. Two years later, however, ADT purchased LifeShield from Hagan's company for $25 million.

Right now, LifeShield offers one of the most advanced security system in terms of security features.
Smartphone Access
For starters, all systems from LifeShield offer smartphone access. Wherever you are, you can control, monitor, and access your security system. Although this feature isn't uncommon, LifeShield is one of the very few companies that offer smartphone access regardless of which monitoring plan you enroll to.

Email, Text & Push Alerts
LifeShield offers professional monitoring, but it still offers email, text, and push alerts to customers. This is to ensure that you remain on the loop of what's going on around your house.
Smash & Crash Protection
Unlike other security systems, LifeShield's base unit, which is responsible for sending alarm signals, is separate from the control panel. This way, even if the intruder smashes the control panel, LifeShield's monitoring service will still receive the alarm signal.
Backup Communication
The LifeShield Base Unit also offers backup communication. If your internet fails, it can use your landline or even cellular signal to send alerts to the monitoring center. These backup communication methods are free and cost you anything.
100% Wireless Equipment
LifeShield's equipment is entirely wireless except for the base unit, which only requires power, ethernet, and landline. Other than that, everything is wireless, so you can easily install the system and take it down in case the need for you to relocate arises.
Home Automation Integration
The LifeShield system is also smart home compatible. It works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and a ton of smart home brands via IFTTT.
